Reliable Micro Particle Image Velocimetry (μPIV) data, to understand micro-channel flow and validate numerical simulation results on more complicated geometries, are difficult to produce. Thoroughly understanding the effect of experimental parameters that affect the flows in question is vital for the production of high-quality experimental flow diagnostic data. A state-of-the art $mu$PIV system was assembled at the Bundeswehr University Munich to compliment numerical simulations made on micro-bioreactors and dispersion systems fabricated at TU Braunschweig used for the emulsification of lipid nano-particles and bacteria growth optimization. Among the experimental parameters that could have an effect on these micro-flows are seeding particle concentration, particle size, and flow loading with third-party components used for the specific application of the microchips. A tracer particle concentration analysis was performed to asses the effect of different concentrations of 0.5 $mu$m-dia and 5 $mu$m-dia particles on the flow inside an L-shaped micro-channel. The measurements suggest that particle diameter does have a consistent effect on the flow but the tested levels of particle concentration do not seem to make a substantial difference.    «
