Abstract:
In this publication the multi-fault tolerant control introduced earlier is adapted to phase short circuits. The basis of this control is the Subdomain Model (SDM), which employs Maxwell equations for calculating the magnetic flux distribution with high accuracy, allowing an efficient adaption to motor-intrinsic electrical and magnetic faults. This paper demonstrates that in the case of a short circuited phase the faulty torque ripple can be predicted by the SDM and thereby compensated by the control. The functionality of this approach is shown using a representative dynamic simulation. In a second simulation the multi-fault tolerance is demonstrated by compensating simultaneously a phase short circuit and partial demagnetization fault.
