The goal of this paper is to compare the standard and the mixed hybrid finite element methods (FEMs). The relative L2 errors for pressure and flux are computed with respect to the CPU time which each method needs for solving the corresponding linear algebraic system. Several examples of linear elliptic partial differential equations (PDEs) related to the transport in porous media are presented.
