Abstract:
Passive Optical Networks (PONs) are widely used in fixed-access networks for delivering connectivity to domestic, commercial and industrial users. Authentication and encryption are required in PONs, because of their vulnerability to Optical Network Unit (ONU) impersonating or downstream data sniffing attacks.
