Abstract:
WAVE DRIVE® gear units are working as strain-wave gears. In addition gliding contacts for the transmission of moments and rotation will be used. This is the reason why there are difficult and complex tribological contact situations. Most problems are noticed in the gliding contact between the wave generator and the so called Stösselrad. The latter is the part which is responsible for the transmission transfer, because the gliding velocity may be very high. Content of the article is to determine the thermal and tribological qualities as a function of surface roughness, temperature, rotation and torque for thermoplastics/ steel combinations and to derive application limits. «
