Transient pneumatic probe traverses enable a significant reduction in measurement time compared to conventional pointwise measurements, but require a correction of the measured pressure signal due to the dynamic response of the pneumatic system. This paper investigates the validity of approximating the pneumatic measurement chain with a first-order transfer function and evaluates the robustness of the corresponding reconstruction method. A synthetic study is conducted in which the complete measurement process is reproduced, including the pressure field, the dynamic response based on the Bergh-Tijdeman model, traversing speed, sampling rate and sensor noise. Based on this analysis, non-dimensional criteria for the validity of the first-order approximation are derived and the influence of key process parameters on the reconstruction accuracy is quantified. The results show that accurate and robust pressure reconstruction is achievable over a wide range of conditions, and that an internal uncertainty estimate provides a reliable indicator of the reconstruction error.
